Loftus Town Hall

A Heritage Open Weekend was held in the Town Hall 8th-11th September. The Tees Valley Wildlife Trust had an exhibition on alum called Alum, Alchemy and Ammonites. The Loftus History Group had a display called Storytelling in Loftus.

Loftus Saxon Jewels


In 2007 rare Saxon jewels, thought to belong to a princess, were found in a grave near Loftus. It is hoped these artifacts will be kept locally and on the 22nd January 2008 this was debated in Westminster Hall by our M.P. Dr. Ashok Kumar; to read his debate click link below. Sadly Dr. Kumar died a few days ago. J.L.
